LWD was awarded Governance and Professional Practice Certificate
Phnom Penh (August 09, 2017) – After more than a year-long assessment conducted by the Governance & Professional Practice (GPP) team, LWD was awarded last week a Certificate of Compliance against the Standards of Governance & Professional Practice for NGOs in Cambodia.
According to a statement by the Cooperation Committee for Cambodia (CCC) dated July 4, 2017, LWD was officially certified by the NGO Code Compliance Committee for a 3-year period valid from July 4, 2017 to July 3, 2020.
This is the second time that LWD was awarded the NGO GPP Certificate since the first certificate was expired in February 2015.
NGO GPP recognized and appreciated LWD’s efforts in complying with the standards and being a role model for other NGOs, contributing to strengthening the NGO sector in Cambodia, the statement said.
The assessment was carried out on six key areas—good governance, relationship and communications, sound financial management, accountability and transparency, quality assurance, and human resource management—which formed into 25 standards. And the results showed that LWD has complied with all the standards.
NGO GPP is a tool that helps to ensure accountability and good governance in the NGO sector. It aims at promoting professionalism and good practice within NGOs operating in Cambodia. It is a certification scheme created by CCC in 2004 to develop a code of conduct compiling principles for the CSOs’ governance of its members.
