Delegation from Australian Embassy pays an exclusive visit to explore LWD’s program impacts
Phnom Kravanh, Pursat Province (June 20, 2017) – A delegation from the Australian Embassy to Phnom Penh paid an exclusive visit today to Phnom Kravanh district, one of LWD’s five target areas, aiming to explore the program impacts on the livelihood of the target groups under LWD’s support.
The delegation included Mr. Simon Buckley, First Secretary for Australian Embassy to Phnom Penh, Ms. Heather Fitt, Assistant Director for Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) Secretariat, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Ms. Nguon Sokunthea, Program Manager for Australian Embassy to Phnom Penh.
Through its aid program, Australian DFAT in partnership with Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS) supports the Cambodian government’s efforts for sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction. Life with Dignity (LWD) is one of DFAT’s and ALWS’s partners implementing ANCP-funded projects.
The delegation, led by Simon Buckley and accompanied by LWD Executive Director Min Sor, visited Phteah Rung and Prongil communes and met with the poor community benefiting from the water gate and well, agriculture cooperative committee and vegetable growers to learn about their changes in livelihood under LWD’s support and challenges they are facing.
The delegation was very much impressed to see the positive changes the community made and highly appreciated their strong commitment to move out of poverty.
